Health & Safety

Before working in the Studios, every student needs to do an in-person Health & Safety induction.

This will ensure that you know:

  • Who to contact in an emergency and where to find them
Ana Teles, Space Supervisor is first point of contact and based at the front desk of the studios

  • Where the first aid box is and how to find a first aider
The first aid box is located on the front desk and first aider is Ana Teles, Space Supervisor

  • How to report all accidents or incidents, no matter how trivial
Let Ana Teles, Space Supervisor know about any incidents if she was not present, all incidents should be recorded in the Accident and Incident Report Book.

  • What to do if the fire alarm goes off
In the event of a fire, everyone must leave by the fire exit located at the back of the main studio corridor and go to the assembly point in Moncrieff Street. Please follow the instruction of your Fire Marshall Ana Teles, Space Supervisor

Fire Safety

Level 5 Peckham Levels fire call points and fire exits

Raising the alarm

If you discover or even suspect a fire, raise the alarm immediately.

This is so that everyone can get to safety before the fire escalates. Raise the alarm by shouting “FIRE!” to alert anyone in the immediate vicinity, and then activate the nearest fire call point marked with [X] on the floor plan.

Your safety and that of others in the building is paramount so evacuate immediately. Firefighting is secondary to the evacuation of the area of a fire, and is always best left to the fire service.

Fire evacuation procedure

Upon hearing the fire alarm, you must immediately leave the building safely and calmly, without stopping to retrieve personal belongings, via the nearest fire exit – in the Studios this is the double doors at the rear of the central corridor – the doors will automatically release when the alarm sounds.

You should leave the building via our designated escape route, the East Core stairwell which leads directly to the Members Fire Assembly Point. As shown in this aerial photograph, this is the pedestrian area between Peckham Levels and Moncrieff Street.
